This summer I will be part of a team that has an opportunity to make a lasting impact in the lives of students in Guatemala!
This summer I will have the opportunity to travel to Guatemala and help build playgrounds as part of "Operation Playground," which students have been participating in throughout this school year. Every time a student reached up to a certain pledge level, a donation was made towards playgrounds for students in Guatemala. Students were not only having the chance to help their own school, but also to help make a difference for students in Guatemala. It has been amazing to see their excitement to help change the world!
As I have been encouraging students to help other students in Guatemala, I have been reminded of the importance and impact the value of play has had on my life. When I was younger, my favorite part of school was recess. Running through the doors to the playground lit up my eyes and set my feet on fire. I couldn't imagine what school would have been like without a playground. Now with this trip, we will have the opportunity and privilege to bring that same joy to students in Guatemala, not only for now, but for years to come!
