CYCLE Kids, Inc. has amazing passion for their cause and mission. The organization promotes overall physical fitness for our kids today. In today's active and hectic world, the excitement and enjoyment of being active and outside has been lost. CYCLE Kids, Inc. works with schools to help encourage and support kids learn the joy of riding bikes and being active, a trait that will accompany us all throughout life. It also instills a sense of accomplishment, freedom, and happiness in the lives of kids.
As I looked to apply this year to run for a charity in the 2011 Boston Marathon, I wanted to apply with a group that I could completely get jazzed about, completely throw my entire heart behind....CYCLEKids, Inc. is that group.
In being a longtime runner and cyclist, these activites have brought the utmost happiness to my life. In the best of times and worst of times, tieing up a pair of Mizuno's and hitting the road/trails for some quiet time has been something that I have loved and enjoyed each time. A few years ago, I began to cycle and have now included cycling in my activities along with running, both bringing me the utmost of enjoyment.
In 2005, I started a cycling team that participates in one of the largest charity events in Charlotte, NC, 24 Hours of Booty. The team has remained active every year, including this past year with my best effort of 179 miles in a 24 hour period. Yet, my passion with running all started back in high school, when I joined my cross country team and spiked when I completed by first marathon in 2005, followed by a couple others.
Through the Boston Marathon and being part of such a worthy and respectable cause with CYCLEKids, Inc., 2011 will surely prove to be the top of the peak for me in my running days.
Thanks so much for your support and please visit my new training BLOG which will outline my training schedule and fundraising accomplishments. I will also update the entire event weekend and other activities on the BLOG!
