A project of COPPER COLORED MOUNTAIN ARTS INC
One Pause Poetry investigates beauty and revitalizes poetry in Michigan and beyond. Our goal: to make poetry accessible to all.
For National Poetry Month this April, we are fundraising for matching funds for a Michigan Council for the Arts Grant to help with our reading series and also the on-going national mp3 project!
One Pause Poetry strives to make poetry accessible to all. We are non-academic and non–market-driven, and we avoid any one poetry "camp." We honor diversity and quality in our selection process and include both established and emerging writers for our series and website. We want to break down categories and camps, encouraging collaboration and innovation across poetic forms, the arts, and media.
Over the past three years One Pause has hosted poets Nathaniel Mackey, Julie Carr, Joel Brouwer, Jerome Rothenberg, Monica Youn, Mark Wunderlich, Jericho Brown, Pulitzer-Prize winner, Franz Wright and other great poets.
In February, 2012 we launched our website www.onepausepoetry.org which includes an audio and video archive and a national mp3 project where poets from around the country are asked to record three poems: one by them, one by another, and one for kids.
We believe that poetry is best when it is seen and heard as a part of every day life. The reading series archive and the mp3 project bring poetry into your home and your heart and mind at any time. And we think that is the best!
Please help us financially to (literally and poetically) spread the word! Your donation will help bring poets to Michigan for our reading series, and buy equipment for our national mp3 project. All One Pause events are recorded and archived on the web for everyone to see. Three cheers for the Spoken Word.
