Nourish International engages students and empowers communities to eradicate global poverty.
Since incorporating as a 501(c)3 nonprofit in 2006, Nourish International has grown into a national organization, engaging hundreds of students at 24 universities across the United States. Nourish invites students to be a part of the solution to global poverty, providing them with the training, support and creative space they need to make a difference. Nourish students run small businesses and invest their earnings in sustainable development projects abroad. Over the summer, Nourish students travel to assist community partners in the implementation of these projects.
Nourish makes an impact in two ways. First is through our projects, where we invest in long-term, community-based solutions to poverty. Second is through our students, whom we equip with the entrepreneurship, leadership, and cross-cultural skills they need to become lifelong agents of social change.
In 2011, Nourish sent 83 students and $62,000 abroad to implement 14 unique projects ranging from women's empowerment in Cameroon to bamboo reforestation in Nicaragua. In 2008, Nourish received the North Carolina Peace Prize for excellence in cross-cultural solutions and sustainable development.
