Like the air they breathe, girls everywhere are surrounded by popular media every day. But what’s popular isn’t always positive.

Do you know that media sexualization and objectification undermine a girl's confidence in and comfort with her own body, leading to emotional and self-image problems, like shame and anxiety?

Do you know research links harmful media with three of the most common mental health problems diagnosed in girls and women--eating disorders, low self-esteem, and depression/depressed mood?

In today’s media the pressures of sexualization and objectification are all too real for girls.

At New Moon Girls, we aim to change all that.

New Moon Girls is the award-winning counterbalance to harmful media. It empowers girls with the healthy, supportive magazine & community with other girls. It helps girls grow and stretch, and be themselves with creativity and compassion.

But we need you!

We donate many memberships to make NMG accessible for low-income girls. But the need is greater than our small organization can meet on its own. Your donation means that we won’t have to leave girls, schools and libraries starving for healthy media.

Since 1993 New Moon Girls has supported and encouraged more than one million pre-teen and early teen girls as they grow into strong women. We pioneered the concept of girls leading and governing media for girls. We’ve received many media and other awards for our inspiring and effective work with girls.
