This year the South Peninsula Teen Foundation is working to provide health and shelter to disadvantaged populations.
I have been volunteering in my community for many years, but it has always been a struggle to feel as though what I am doing is actually making a difference. Although I realized any charitable effort is exceptional, I found it hard not to feel insignificant or even burdensome when doing various volunteer jobs, as much as I wanted to make a difference.
This year is my first time being on the South Peninsula Jewish Teen Foundation (SPJTF) and I am so apprciative to be given the opportunity to work on this board. SPJTF teaches teens the skills required to become a successful philanthropists.
We begin the yearlong process by creating a mission statement and from there we embark on a journey of fundraising and learning about organizations and grant making decisions.
Our mission statement this year is “to fund programs that provide and support the advocacy of health and shelter for disadvantaged populations including, but not limited to, those in the Bay Area and Israel. Our focus will be on programs that empower individuals to help themselves.”
Please consider donating to the South Peninsula Jewish Teen Foundation by April 20th. Any donation makes a difference. Thank you so much for your time and consideration!
