I grew up, in the Savin Hill Area, with The Boys and Girls Club of Dorchester, being an extremely important part of my life. I attended both preschool and afterschool there and actively participated in many of the sports leagues and other programs offered. I then went on to work in the preschool programs throughout my mid twenties. The Boys and Girls Club provided me, and many others, with a strong sense of community that had a large impact on the person I have become today.
Many of my relatives and friend's children are now members of The Boys and Girls Club. It makes me proud to see them having the same experiences and memories that made my childhood so great. I understand the importance of making sure The Boys and Girls club continues to have the funding needed to keep these programs and the Dorchester community going strong.
After expressing my interest, to run The Boston Marathon, I realized I had a lot of people in my corner to support me throughout my training and decided to turn that support into an ooportunity to help others. I anticipate the next 4 months of my life to be extremely busy and trying. I also anticipate that with my determination, along with the support of my wonderful family and friends, it will all be worth it!
