NEW HOPE HOUSING INC

Founded in 1977, New Hope Housing is an innovative, award-winning non-profit agency in Northern Virginia providing shelter, transitional and permanent supportive housing, outreach and prevention assistance, and support services for homeless families and single adults. New Hope Housing is committed to finding creative and lasting solutions to end the cycle of homelessness by offering homeless men, women and children the services they need to change their lives and succeed. And we believe that each individual success story contributes to a stronger, healthier community for all of us.

The Vision we work for is a home and bright future for every man, woman and child in our community.

COMMUNITY IMPACT:

• New Hope Housing serves over 1,200 individuals, including more than 240 children, through one or more of its programs each year.
• On any given night, over 300 people find a safe, welcoming place to stay through New Hope Housing's residential programs.
• Our education and employment services team helps hundreds of individuals access education and job training programs, undertake job searches, and gain specialized certifications and licensures; more than 125 individuals are assisted in finding new employment each year.
• Shelter programs provide over 64,000 "bednights" of shelter annually.
• Emergency assistance programs respond to the needs of 35-50 individuals or families monthly, helping to prevent homelessness in our community.
• Over 800 individuals share in our work as volunteers each year, providing nearly 20,000 hours of volunteer service.

PROGRAMS & SERVICES:

New Hope Housing program and services - reaching people in need in Fairfax County, the City of Alexandria, the City of Falls Church, and Arlington County - include:

• Year-round shelter programs serving families (Next Steps Family Program and the Alexandria Community Shelter) and single adults (Mondloch House, the Eleanor U. Kennedy Shelter, and the Alexandria Community Shelter)
• Winter emergency shelter programs (Falls Church Homeless Shelter and the Ventures in Community Hypothermia Outreach Program)
• Permanent supportive housing programs serving both families (The MIlestones and RISE programs) and single adults (Max's Place, Susan's Place, Gartlan House, Just Home, and Housing First Apartments program)
• Transitional housing programs for families (STRIDE and Stepping Out) and single men (Turning Point)
• Prevention assistance for households at immediate risk of becoming homeless, part of community-wide effort to prevent homelessness.
• Rental assistance programs to help move individuals and families more quickly from shelter or housing wait lists into housing in the community.
• Support services that include case management, children's services, housing location, education and employment, financial literacy and other life skills, and recreational, social and cultural programming
