We provide services and programming to residents who live between Chicago and Cedar Ave and 38th and 42nd Street.

In the year 2010 the BNA has been at the forefront of many projects and worked in collaboration with other neighborhood associations and organizations to support community growth. We are a small non-profit, primarily volunteer run with one staff member and a board of 13-15 members.

A few of this year's projects have been:

  • Co-hosted the 38th and Chicago Ave Commercial Development Open House.
  • Given grants to 10 different businesses along 38th Street to improve the outside of their building.
  • Helped 7 Bancroft home owners get 3% loans through TCF.
  • Held the annual Ice Cream Social in the Bancroft Meadows in July.
  • Co-hosted a Youth Crime In Our Neighborhood night at Pillsbury House.
  • Produced 4 editions of the Bancroft Banner and had them delivered to your door.
  • Co-organized the South of Lake Farmer's Market every Thursday at 39th and Chicago Ave.
  • Supported the start of the West of the Rails business association serving business owners from 15th Ave east to the light rail.
  • Contributed, with community input and financially to the Riverlake Greenway project.
  • Gave money to the Phelps Activity Council for the youth sports programming.

We have done so much!

Over the next few years our funding sources will be shifting as the Cities Neighborhood Revitilization Program begins to run out of money. We are becoming more and more reliant on grant writing and individual donations. We need your help to keep the services and projects we support alive. Please consider donating.
