NECHAMA Jewish Response to Disaster is a volunteer organization providing clean-up assistance to homes affected by natural disaster.

Mission

Nechama - Jewish Response to Disaster is a 501(c)(3) volunteer organization providing clean-up and recovery assistance to homes and businesses affected by natural disaster. Guided by the Jewish values of Tikun Olam, repairing the world, performing good acts, and helping the stranger, Nechama offers a helping hand in the spirit of goodwill and creating mutual respect and understanding among people.

Programs

Maintains three trailers and vehicles to transport cleanup equipment and tools to disaster sites. Coordinates volunteers to do the cleanup work under trained deployment managers and key volunteers.

    I helped as a volunteer during the Katrina deployment in New Orleans. Aside from helping the people affected by the disaster, the experience was very rewarding to the volunteers.
