Running THE Boston Marathon to Help Children with Disabilities!
So you may be thinking - where did this come from! Well, this is part of my "project first". For years, I have admired all the runners who make their way from Hopkington to Boston each April and have had particular adimiration for those running to support the many worthy causes the BAA Sponsors.
So I decided to get off the couch and get involved this year. I am fortunate to have been selected by Camp Shriver as a team member. For each of the past seven years, this amazing organization has brought together over 700 children, with and without disabilities, for an opportunity to improve their motor skills, social skills and self-esteem, while developing positive peer relationships and making new friends through the use of sports.
My training is underway and so far, so good.
By committing to run Boston, I have also pledged to raise at least $4,000 by April 15th. I want to make sure all children have a chance to be included, to make friends and to be accepted by peers wherever they go!
I hope you support me in this effort to run 26.2 miles and raise funds for this great cause!
Go Team Camp Shriver!
