The project showcases MN's many fine museums. A series is planned for TPT's Minnesota Channel. We need help upgrading our popular website.

Museums Of Minnesota (MOM) is a devoted to enhancing the experience and expanding the patronage of the state’s many historical and cultural institutions. Over 170 Minnesota museums are currently listed with the support of the Minnesota Historical Society, Minnesota Alliance of Local History Museums, and the American Association of Museums.

In addition to the popular MOM website, we are in preproduction of a four-part TV series with our broadcast partner, Twin Cities Public Television’s Minnesota Channel, similar to the award-winning program Back On The Mississippi.

There is no charge to create or access listings. Value-added features include “Two Minute Tours” of selected museums.

Museums Of Minnesota 30-minute shows will air statewide on tpt MN and stations of the Minnesota Public Television Association

Back On The Mississippi aired locally and in over 30 markets nationwide, winning a Telly Award for best cultural documentary. For more info visit backonthemississippi.com and strinz.com.

Here’s what some of our museums and supporters are saying:

“Very well done! It is easy and to the point. It shares a wealth of information but is not overwhelming. Nice colors and graphics too.” – Winona County Historical Society

“We are excited about the web site and its potential! Great job!” – Cottonwood County Historical Society

“We watched the DVD of Back On The Mississippi just before we headed out to Kansas City. It inspired us to change our return route and follow the Mississippi as much as possible. I look forward to seeing the museums you show on Museums Of Minnesota. I’m sure they’ll inspire future trips.” Liz H., supporter

“This online forum is a terrific tool to help local history museums in Minnesota collaborate in providing outstanding service to the public.” – David Grabitske, Minnesota Historical Society

“We see Museums of Minnesota as a great benefit to museums of all sizes across the state. Its ease of use for both the user and participating museums provides the potential that it will continue to be a tool for visitors looking for a destination and museums looking to attract them for years to come.” – Todd Mahon, Chairman Emeritus, Minnesota Alliance of Local History Museums

“The website is very well done. I hope that lots of Minnesota museums participate.” – Ford Bell, President, American Association of Museums

The TV series and website were made possible by generous grants from the Engdahl Family Foundation, BBS Press Service, and many small donors.

More underwriters are needed to complete the project.

We need to restructure our website, which broke ground when it was launched in 2008, but technological advances require significant system updates.

Small and medium donations will support our website efforts. For large donations to underwrite our TV series (over $50K), please contact cstrinz@MuseumsOfMN.com.

All contributions are fully tax-deductible.

Back On The Mississippi, LLC, is an independent production company established in 2003 and based in Eagan, MN. It is owned and operated by J. Charles (Chuck) Strinz, whose mission in life is to do neat new things, and do old things in neat new ways.

Strinz worked as a freelance copywriter until he discovered the opportunities presented by pre-Internet online communications in 1983. He helped build new communications systems through the 80’s and 90’s, then dropped out to raise a family. When his kids were in middle school, he returned to his love of video, inspired in part by his graduate filmmaking work at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. This resulted in the award-winning Back On The Mississippi. Special thanks to Jim Maloney and ZIBI Video for great work and help.
