The International Biogeography Society & The Tough Mudder

I (Karen) work for the International Biogeography Society (www.biogeography.org). It's a great society with limited funds, and is full of really hard-working volunteers with great ideas (Jack being a former board member). I'd love to see them set up a long-term fund to help students from around the world attend meetings or help with research, or reach out to increase participation by members in developing countries. Also - we'll be running through electroshock wires and freezing cold water. Who wouldn't want to pay someone else to do that? A description of the Tough Mudder can be found here: toughmudder.com - they do a great job of raising money for the Wounded Warrior Project (but that's a different issue).

Jack has agreed to shave his head if the amounts reach up to $3,000. I think he can be swayed towards a mohawk for $5,000 (I'll work on it). And really, if we make it up to $10,000, I'll shave my head into a mohawk. Make me regret that promise! I haven't told Andy about this fundraiser yet - but I'm guessing he'd be willing to do a mohawk too.
