With your gift, we can make quality early childhood education a reality for all children.
Join our efforts to reform early childhood education!
The quality of education remains a real and ongoing concern in Minnesota as we continue to face significant learning disparities. Cornerstone Montessori school is documenting noteworthy success at offsetting these disparities, with our children performing at almost twice the state average on key indicators of school readiness.
We are confident that this success can be replicated.
Through teacher training and advocacy, the MTCM is partnering to start new community-led schools within low income and diverse neighborhoods. The first cohort of community partners has been selected with the first schools opening in the fall of 2012. This includes American Indian Family Center, Centro, Family Place, Hmong American Partnership, and Little Earth of United Tribes.
Please join a collective effort to make quality early childhood education a reality for all children.
With your support we can:
- Continue to offer scholarships for low-income children and their families to attend Cornerstone Montessori School
- Provide support for public schools or social service organizations seeking to start high quality Montessori early childhood programs within low-income communities
- Offer teacher training scholarships to high caliber candidates from diverse communities
History
For over thirty years, the center has provided teacher training for professionals in early childhood and elementary education in the Montessori Method. We recently expanded beyond teacher training to offer programs designed to replicate the method and to bring programs to children living in poverty.
The Montessori Training Center offers the following programs:
· Montessori for All: We are providing technical assistance and training scholarships to extend the reach of Montessori education. We work in partnership with community-based organizations to establish quality programs in diverse and low-income communities and in public schools.
· Cornerstone Montessori Early Childhood Program: This model lab school enrolls ethnically and economically diverse children ages 16 months – 5 years of age. Through an aggressive scholarship program and connections to community aid, our school is able to serve approximately 70% low-income families. The school works in partnership with a public charter school to serve children through the age of 12.
· Montessori Teacher Training: We are accredited by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), the organization founded by Dr. Maria Montessori, and are one of just 13 AMI teacher-training institutions in the U.S. and 35 worldwide.
· International Montessori Museum: This is a one-of a kind museum and research center has drawn visitors and educational leaders from around the globe.
