I started playing the guitar when I was 13 and began taking lessons at 14. Music is so important for children because it helps with developmental skills, gives them a positive creative outlet, allows them to feel a sense of accomplishment and to build their self esteem. It also provides many kids a with a career path that they may not have otherwise embarked upon.

Little Kids Rock is in schools in Texas, near where I grew up, and in 24 cities nationwide. With your gift, you will be giving teachers in public schools with limited or no music programs specialized training and free instruments to give kids lessons on playing and composing in the musical styles they love.

These are kids at a Little Kids Rock school that had NO music program whatsoever. It's an original song by the kid who is rapping. He was a gang member and had dropped out of school to a life on the streets. NOW...he is at school every single day because his teacher went to a Little Kids Rock training. Little Kids Rock's challenge is to raise $782,000 to reach 75,000 kids by year’s end – only $10.43 per student.
