Minnesota Opera

Making a charitable contribution to Minnesota Opera does more than bring innovative opera to life on stage season after season. Your gift also supports what happens behind the scenes and in the community, including creative artistic teams and exciting education and outreach programs in classrooms and communities across the state.

The Opera is deeply committed to economic accessibility, and offers student-attended dress rehearsals, senior and student discounts, and half-price tickets through a rush line. Accessibility services include audio description, supertitles/captions, assisted listening devices, and Braille and large-print programs which help make the Opera’s performances accessible to all.

The Company serves an estimated 450,000 people annually through its programs, including an annual opera season presented at the Ordway Center and broadcast (with streaming) on Minnesota Public Radio, a Resident Artist Program that provides emerging artists with professional training and performance opportunities, and educational and outreach programs that serve over 25,000 adults, young people and educators each year.

The world premiere of Kevin Puts' Pulitzer Prize-winning opera Silent Night solidified Minnesota Opera's reputation as one of the leading opera companies commissioning and performing contemporary opera. Based on the true story of the 1914 Christmas Eve truce, this new opera is the culmination of several years of artistic work and a shining example of the creative process. Artistic Director Dale Johnson described the vital importance of commissioning contemporary opera- we need to share the stories of our time. Minnesota Opera's annual committment to mounting such spectacular shows (five productions in total every year) requires significant investment.

Please make a contribution to support great opera productions, education and community programs. You can take pride in knowing that your gift will help Minnesota Opera reach new artistic heights as it maintains its leadership role in bringing the art form to life in Minnesota.

Mission Statement:
