"Honor the fallen and remember the survivors"

I am biking 200 miles for our law enforcement heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice.

In just a few months I will be road biking over 200 miles on the Road to Hope from Reading, PA to Washington, DC during National Police Week as a member of Law Enforcement United (LEU). LEU was founded to honor law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty, to ensure their surviving family members are supported, and to provide monetary assistance to the Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) and the Officer Down Memorial Page (O.D.M.P.).

C.O.P.S. provides resources to assist in the rebuilding of lives of surviving families and affected co-workers of law enforcement officers that have died in the line of duty, which includes training for law enforcement agencies on survivor victimization issues and educating the public of the need to support the law enforcement profession and its survivors. C.O.P.S. also puts on retreats throughout the year for surviving spouses, children, parents, siblings, in-laws, and co-workers so that all survivors may find strength in the comfort of one another.

The O.D.M.P. is a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring America's fallen law enforcement heroes. More than 19,000 officers have made the ultimate sacrifice in the United States and it is with great honor that the O.D.M.P. pays a lasting tribute to each of these officers by preserving their memories within its pages.

This year's ride is dedicated to NY State Trooper Amanda Anna, Badge #5304, of the Hastings Barracks in Oswego County who was tragically killed in a patrol vehicle accident on May 25, 2012. I am especially honored to be part of the LEU team this year to pay tribute to one of of our own NYSP sisters and to all our law enforcement heroes who lost their lives this year. We are forever grateful for their service, and through the Road to Hope will ensure that they will never be forgotten.

As a rider, I need your help in raising $1,350 for this very worthy cause by April 1, 2013. LEU is a non-profit organization under section 501(C) 3 of the Internal Revenue Code, and donations and contributions are tax deductible.

Thank you for your support of this very special cause. We promise to make you proud each and every mile of the way.

"Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13
