MWEP is committed to increasing awareness of the value of sustainably managed forests and to improving the economies of our communities.
MWEP's program activities include:
Goods from the Woods®. GFTW is an ‘UpNorth’ Arts & Crafts Show an Green Living Celebration. The event is Northern Minnesota’s premier artisan marketplace. Visitors may choose from the largest selection of unique, handcrafted items from over 70 high-quality, regional exhibitors. The event is held on the third Saturday each September in Grand Rapids, MN. FSC® Certification Program. The True North Certified Forest Products Network™ is an FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) Chain-of-Custody group certification program that assures consumers that the products of manufacturers, distributors, and retailers come from well managed forests. The brand assures consumers that the products of manufactgurers, distributors and retailers come from Minnesota's three cold-forged, sustainably manged, natural forests - the boreal, pine, and hardwood forests. Educational Programs. Workshops, webinars, and other educational programs are conducted annually to offer forest product producers, forestland owners, architects, interior designers, builders, consumers, and others access to information about Minnesota's forests, unique wood species, locally produced products, and other issues.
