The MWC is an association that promotes Minnesota forest-based products and products bearing the True North Woods® certification brand. The goals are to retain Minnesota’s forest-based business and jobs. Founded in 2003.
Membership in the MWC is open to forest-base primary and secondary producers, artisans and craftspeople, home-based businesses and artists, wholesale and retail lumber suppliers, and all organizations and individuals who support the goals of the MWC. The primary program activities are:

The certification brand assures that the product bearing the brand are composed of materials harvested from the world-class forest of Minnesota and reflect the unique traits of our diverse and sustainable managed natural forests and our shared traditions of craftsmanship. The consortium is composed of suppliers that produce and distribute local materials, including True North Woods® certified forest-based products, and/or FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) certified products that qualify for LEED, MN GreenStar, and other green building and remodeling projects and are located within a 500 mile radius of Minneapolis-Saint Paul.
