MIWSAC wants every native woman and child across the state to live without fear of becoming a victim and be safe in their home communities whether in tribal, rural, or urban settings. MIWSAC works with Native and non-Native advocates and allies to support the best resources, services, and responses for Native women. MIWSAC knows that for every 1 in 3 Native women who will be impacted by sexual violence in her lifetime, there is much more than just a statistic; MIWSAC recognizes this alarming statistic to represent our mothers, grandmothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, and nieces. MIWSAC also recognizes that whole families, not just individuals feel the aftermath of sexual violence, which includes our children; our sons and daughters, fathers, grandfathers, brothers, and uncles. Through unity we will strengthen our voices and build resources to create awareness and eliminate sexual violence against Indian women and children.We will vigorously apply our efforts toward influencing social change and reclaim our traditional values that honor the sovereignty of Indian women and children.
