In the fall on 2010, First United Methodist Church of Mansfield set a goal of raising $250,000 over the course of three years to help transform the lives of 1,000 orphans in Africa.
ZOE Ministry [www.zoeministry.org] is our partner in this endeavor. Our three year commitment coincides with the three year empowerment program in which each of these orphans is participating.
During that time, they not only build a new home, they learn a business or trade that will allow them to care for themselves and their younger siblings. Over the course of that time, A new, self-sustaining community will be built filled with kids whose hope has been restored.
Miles for Hope grew out of a deep commitment to seeing this dream come true. Although I cannot run, due to my back surgery, I am going to walk the half-marathon to help raise awareness and support for the community and people in Rwanda that Zoe ministry empowers.
