In Cerro Alto, we have found that the cisterns the locals use for water in cooking and drinking and bathing have unsafe levels of E.Coli, and other bacteria. The Water Project was conceived to bring the locals a powered water pump, and bypass the cisterns. The UIC chapter of Engineers Without Borders is very excited to help, but flying down there, building the infrastructure, and making it all happen is expensive, so we are running this 5k/13.1 Mi to try and raise money for the Project.
