MIGIZI’s mission is modeled in our organizational goal which is to build on our clients’ assets in all that we do. This is based in a belief that all people have assets and the capacity to learn new behaviors. The environment of our classrooms, learning labs, and even our offices is designed to honor ourselves as well as those we serve as both teachers and learners. Programs include: Native Academy™, an educational support program focusing on science, technology, and math that is nationally recognized as a model for Indian student success. In addition to academic skills, health/wellness and cultural education components are also integral to the Native Academy programming in order to provide a more holistic approach to the development and success of our students. The Native Academy goal is to increase the percentage of graduating postsecondary education ready Indian students in Minneapolis. First Person Productions ™ is a trademarked group of activities that includes national Indian telecommunications and IT policy development; multi media production; technical assistance in all these areas to tribal groups and others throughout the state/region; and a New Media Pathway Program to train Indian youth to produce and distribute Indian content via conventional and virtual mediums. Through First Person Productions (FPP), we provide technical advice and support in telecommunications to Minnesota’s eleven tribal communities, and multi-media production training to approximately 50 Minneapolis Indian youth each year.
