Sadie & 100 other animals currently need forever homes. NHS is a limited admissions facility helping animals in need.
Northwoods Humane Society is a limited admissions shelter which means we don't time out animals based on their length of stay. Northwoods is dedicated to finding forever homes for the dogs and cats that come through our door. Adoptable animals remain at the shelter until they are adopted. Each year over 250 dogs and 750 cats arrive at Northwoods Humane Society and find their second chances with new families: second chances for love and happiness.
On average, adult cats remain at the shelter for 60 days before they are adopted. Sadie, however, is an exception to that rule. She arrived at Northwoods Humane Society on September 20, 2008. Sadie is a vibrant example of why we are committed to finding adoptable animals their forever homes: of why we don’t give up on an animal just because she hasn’t found the right family yet.
Sadie is a beautiful, petite, black and white cat who is now 4 years old. She has big, green eyes and a personality to match. Each day Sadie waits for her chance, her time to go home. Each day she watches other lucky cats and dogs walk out the door with their families. Sadie doesn’t let that get her down though. She knows that one day the perfect person will come for her and she knows that she has the love and support of the staff and volunteers at Northwoods Humane Society who will care for her until that exciting day.
Because each day animals from Northwoods find their forever homes, new animals are arriving that need our care. Each animal is vaccinated, receives parasite control and is spayed or neutered before being placed up for adoption. In some cases, animals need medication or veterinary care before they are ready to go home. Northwoods will continue to help the animals in need in our community because of your support.
