Metro Medical Ministry and the Haiti Mission in May 2011
MetroMed Ministry fundraising for METRO COMMUNITY CHURCH
Donate to send a medical team to Haiti for those in need after the 2010 earthquake. Below is Metro's 2010 video of the non-medical trip.
From May 14-21, 2011, Metro Community Church will be sending its first medical team of 6 to Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, for a short-term mission to meet the needs of those still affected by the 7.0 earthquake that occurred in January of 2010. This will be the first of many trips abroad to help those in need and provide continual medical services and resources.
The team consists of Dr. Sung Chung (dentist), Dr. Maria Ham (general surgery resident), Kate Ma (registered nurse), Christine Chang (future medical student), Manuel Lee (volunteer EMT and future medical student), and Christopher Yu (administrative/financial coordinator). Our hope is to utilize our gifts and talents to help the Haitian people by working alongside Grace International (www.graceintl.org), a non-profit organization in Carrefour, Haiti, that overseas 270 churches, 65 schools, 3 orphanages, a medical clinic, a hospital, a home for elderly widows, as well as the second largest refugee camp in Port-au-Prince where many have had to resettle displaced by the earthquake. We will serve at a medical/dental clinic and provide care for as many people as possible during our time there.
We hope to raise financial support to cover expenses for the team's trip costs (lodging and travel) as well as for necessary medications and medical supplies to serve those in need of medical assistance. Any excess funds will be directed toward the Medical Ministry at Metro Community Church to continue serving within both our local and global community, including return trips back to Haiti and other countries in need.
