Mentoring to Manhood (M2M) helps boys to develop academic excellence, strong character and life skills vital for manhood.
The statistics speak to how African American boys in Prince George’s County are struggling. Only 55% graduated from high school last year! M2M serves over 140 middle and high school-aged boys, most of whom are from single-parent households with little or no support from fathers. As a result, there is a persistence of low self-confidence, poor academic performance, and potentially destructive behavior that impacts the quality of life in our community and the future of our boys.
With the understanding that inside each boy is “man of excellence”, M2M helps these boys discover their strengths, talents and gifts through our tutoring and mentoring programs that are provided every week during the school year. We also provide critical parental support and family development workshops for almost 100 people annually. At the heart of all of our programming are the Three C’s – strong character, communication skills and “class acts” – all of which provide the foundation for success academically, professionally and socially. With your generosity, M2M wants to double the number of boys we serve next year.
