This fundraiser is to support those in the military who have fought and are currently fighting for us.
My name is Alana Dubaniewcz. I have been an avid runner since my freshman year in high school beginning with running cross country and fell in love with it. Since then I have been running to keep in shape and be healthy, not only for my job as a Police Officer but also as a mother of two. For the past 5 years I have been running many road races, from 5k's, 10k's, half marathon's to 20 milers. I can't get enough of that great freedom of being able to run and the constant strive to push myself even more. I was looking for the next big race, a full marathon, 26.2 miles and found one that made such a mark in my heart that I had to sign up. The race is the Memorial Day Marathon Races located in the Berkshires of Massachusetts. Everything about this race makes me so excited. It begins with National Anthem sung prior to the race, the Color Guard send off from Lenox Veterans of Foreign Wars, American flags distributed throughout the course for spectators, as well as a Flyover prior to the race. This race just breathes excitement and support for our military!! The best part though is that a portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund is a leader in supporting the men and women of the Armed Forces and their families. The Fund has provided close to $120 million in support for the families of military personnel lost in service to our nation, and for severely wounded military personnel and veterans. My goal is to raise $2,620 to donate to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund by race day. I know this is less than two months away but something I know is achievable. Please help those who have provided us with the freedom’s we have.
