The Michael Carter Lisnow Respite Center provides emotional and physical support for individuals with disabilities and their families.
On April 21, 2014, I am going to have the pleasure of running the Boston Marathon (26.2 miles) on behalf of The Michael Carter Lisnow Respite Center in Hopkinton, MA. The center provides a number of programs to children and adults with disabilities like weekend respite, respite care for children, overnight care, after school care, adult day programs, school vacation camp, employment support, Saturday night outings, elementary school disability awareness, and much more.
I am a mother of two sons and am married to a loving and supportive husband. I currently work full time as a Senior Business Analyst. At the age of 17 my life changed in a dramatic way. I became a mother. Not only was I a teenage Mom which was a struggle in itself, 3 years later it was discovered I was a mother of a son with autism. Kaleb was brought into the world unexpectedly and has helped make me the person I am today. I have such a great appreciation for families who care for individuals with disabilities. Being an advocate for your child and/or family member with a disability can be a huge undertaking. Luckily I have a wonderful husband, family, and friends that have been a great support system for Kaleb and for myself.
Running is something I love to do. I don't run to race. I run because it gives me a great appreciation for the small things in life and reminds me that I can do anything I put my heart and mind into. The 2014 Boston Marathon will be the 8th full marathon I have completed. Many of you know me as the crazy running girl and it is definitely something I love to do.
It is a complete honor that I was accepted to run the 2014 Boston Marathon for The Michael Carter Lisnow Respite Center and I can not think of a better cause to run for. The money that I raise contributes 100% to scholarships supporting families who are unable to cover the costs associated with assisted care. Please help me support such a wonderful place and extraordinary people. Your generous tax deductible donations are greatly needed and are truly appreciated.
Thank you so very much for your support!!
