You donation will help keep Melissa's legacy alive by supporting students who are striving to become advocates for the Deaf community!

In the passing of Melissa Wooden the Deaf community and the American Sign Language Club lost a key supporter who was integral in maintaining the link between the local Deaf Culture and the hearing world around us. Melissa was a teacher of American Sign Language through Brainerd High School as well as an active member of the College in Schools program through Central Lakes College. She started and prepared students to transfer into the Central Lakes College Deaf Studies Program to continue their studies in the language as well as the culture. Without this prominent figure in our area we have lost a significant role model and inspiration that brought two cultures and communities together. To commemorate Melissa we plan to establish a Permanent Endowment Scholarship Fund for students continuing their studies at and beyond Central Lakes College.
