Boston Marathon 2013!
Hi Everyone! Thank you for visiting my page. This spring, I will be running the Boston Marathon for Team uAspire!
Growing up in Hopkinton, merely two miles from the starting line, and now living in Boston, just a mile from the finish, it has always been a goal of mine to run the Boston Marathon. After hanging up my swim suit and goggles after graduation in 2010, I have been looking for new challenges. Seconds after completing my second half-ironman with my friend Rachel this fall, I found myself agreeing to her request that I run Boston. Thanks to encouragement from friends and family and a motivating training team, I am proud to say that I will be representing uAspire in this year’s Boston Marathon!
uAspire works to ensure that all young people have the financial information and resources necessary to find an affordable path to - and through - a postsecondary education. To accomplish this mission, uAspire provides free financial aid advice and advocacy to all the students of Boston, Springfield and Lawrence to help them overcome the financial barriers to higher education. The uAspire programs work with students and their families from middle school to high school through college graduation, ensuring that finances never get in the way of potential. uAspire has helped students secure more than $150 million in financial aid in the last three years alone and has awarded more than $5 million in need-based scholarships since its founding.
Although recent winter temperatures have made training conditions less than ideal, I am constantly motivated by uAspire’s mission and I am grateful to raise funds and awareness for such a worthy organization. My goal is to raise $5,000 for uAspire in order to help more local students achieve their dream of higher education.
Thank you so much for your support...counting down to April 15!
All the best,
Megan
