Matt Crook fundraising for A1:8 Egypt 2012
Matt Crook fundraising for National Community Church
I'm a member of National Community Church Egypt missions team. We are going to Cairo in April to share Christ's love through peacebuilding.
Much of Christian history takes place in Egypt, and therefore it has become a place of interest for me. I'm really drawn to the type of work that we'll be doing in Cairo - religious reconciliation and community building. The opportunity to travel to a place with rich historical value and do some work within that community was one I could not let pass.
The focus of our trip is the following:
(1) Participate in local outreach and construction projects at a school and hospital which is in great need of repairs. We will be working in the poorest part of Cairo known as Manshiyet Nassar, or garbage city. Along with construction work we will be teaching English and provide love and care to the children in the area who are both Muslim and Christian.
(2) We will be a source of encouragement to a wonderful Coptic Church in the heart of the city that has a passion for reconciliation with Muslims and serving the poor.
(3) We will be deepening our understanding of peace/conflict past and present with Christians and Muslims in Egypt.
Ways to invest in the trip with me and our team include your prayers, encouragement, and fundraising help.
I would ask for you to keep me and our team in prayer as we prepare to embark on this adventure God has brought us to. The trip will be around $2,000 and I greatly appreciate any help in fundraising. Every bit of it counts and is a huge blessing.
