Challenges students to use critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities while recognizing academic effort and achievement.
The Math Masters program challenges students to use critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities in mathematics, while recognizing academic effort and achievement.
Math Masters of Minnesota provides competition in mathematics for thousands of students in fifth and sixth grades. The program stimulates student interest in math as well as providing a fun competitive atmosphere. Public, private and home schools are invited to register individuals and/or teams for participation in competitions held each spring. The program promotes academic excellence with healthy competition and recognition of students. It is expected that more than 5,000 Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin students will participate during the 2012 competitions. The program is designed to provide recognition for students who excel at mathematics. Students who score highest at each site are awarded plaques, medallions and ribbons. There are team and individual components to appeal to students who do well using each of these dynamics. Students and schools are encouraged to develop higher order thinking skills by using Math Masters of Minnesota materials in year-long preparation for the spring competitions.
Math Masters continues to advocate low registration fees and is dependent upon financial support from generous donors in order to sustain fees at reasonable levels for the students and schools.
