To lead the movement and nurture the belief that together we can improve the lives of Marylanders by ending hunger.
The Maryland Food Bank serves a network of 600 soup kitchens, pantries, shelters, schools, senior centers and other community-based organizations across the state. Of this, 25 are located in Washington County and are served by the Maryland Food Bank – Western Branch. Last year, the Western Branch, located in a 12,000 square foot warehouse in Hagerstown, distributed 1.5 million pounds of food to local communities – the equivalent of 1.2 million meals. Beyond regular food distribution, the Maryland Food Bank – Western Branch oversees outreach programs to reach groups especially at risk of hunger, such as children and seniors.
