Manna Project International mission is to foster communities of young adults and encourage them to use their passions and education in service to communities in need.

Manna Project International (MPI) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that utilizes the passions and energy of young people to empower developing international communities through hands-on learning and service.

Our model is a collaborative community-based approach to development. By working within and alongside communities, our volunteers strive to promote each community’s success while simultaneously learning from them. Our approach stresses holistic development, recognizing that the challenges facing these communities are multi-faceted. These challenges must therefore be addressed through a variety of disciplines, as well as a combination of direct service, local leadership, and broader policy change.

We began in Nicaragua with a team made up of young people with backgrounds in education, art, medicine and public health, business, urban planning, and youth team building. Despite broadly diverse political and philosophical views, this group bonded around the desire to help build up a community, and in turn realized that their effectiveness was firmly rooted in their ability to work together, supporting each others’ projects, and thus founded a community. This community is Manna Project, and it has since expanded to include sites in Ecuador and Guatemala, twelve university campus chapters, and a growing number of international partners. At our international sites, teams of recent graduates and young professionals, called Program Directors, serve thirteen-month terms running our development initiatives.

We invite you to learn more about our work internationally and on campus and to become a part of the growing Manna Project community.

This donation came from an effort by a leadership group from Virginia Tech who were excited about the work being done in Nicaragua. They worked hard to spread the word about Manna Project and raise the funds. Thanks for all you do MP!

Shawn Your note is reminiscent of letters I used to get from my brother in the 1960's when he was in the Peace Corps in Brazil. Keep up the good work. Gary
