I am raising money to go to Malawi, Africa on a mission's trip this summer in July. The donations will go directly to my account.
Currently, I am a freshman undergraduate student at Loyola Marymount University studying Health and Human Sciences in addition with Pre-Med. I am running on the cross country and track teams, involved with two campus bible studies, a member of the Tri Beta Biology Honors Society, a member of the Health and Human Science Society, and trying to maintain good grades at the same time. My goal for the future is to attend medical school and eventually become an Orthopedic Surgeon that specializes in Sports Medicine.
My walk with the Lord has tremendously grown over the last two years. Last summer I got baptized for the first time and have felt God working powerfully in my life. This up and coming summer, I have been blessed with the opportunity to go on a mission’s trip to Malawi, Africa through an organization called Y-Malawi. A trip like this is perfect because it combines two passions of mine: 1)serving the Lord and 2) helping people medically get healthier. This trip provides an opportunity to meet the physical and spiritual needs of a community that is desperately in need. On the trip I will be traveling with two Medical Practitioners, two Orthopedic Surgeons, two Dentists, one current medical student, and four people that are in charge of setting up our accommodations, food, and transportation. We will be working in a very small hospital in Malawi and also be attending a local town to help children and teach them about Jesus. Being around this first hand medical experience in a third world country, in addition to preaching the Gospel is an experience I am anticipating greatly. Being the youngest person on this trip originally made me nervous but now I consider this to be a blessing that the Lord is already starting to use me in incredible ways at only 18 years old. A lot of preparations will need to be made before we leave in July and informing you about this trip is just one of many steps needed to be taken.
Prior to attending the trip, I will be attending a couple evangelism classes in addition to learning some basic medical procedures. The journey begins on July 10 and concludes on July 28. Trips like these do not happen without the power and grace of God. I know the power of prayer, and I would value your prayers for our team and those whose lives will be touched by God through us. I believe that God answers prayers, and I’m asking you to pray for safety, good health, smooth travel, and financial support. Just knowing that you will be praying will give me peace as I go into an unfamiliar place.
When I first heard the cost of this mission’s trip I gave up on the idea because I knew that I definitely did not have the money to pay for this alone. However, the more I started thinking and praying, the more I kept trusting that the Lord would provide a way for me to go. In order to attend this trip I have to raise $4,000! Overwhelming? I thought so too! Jesus provides and I am confident in Him. Any donation you are willing to offer would allow me to be one step closer to accomplishing God’s work.
Again, thank you so much for reading this. I would be so grateful if you consider helping me through prayer or financial giving. I hope to hear from you soon and wish you a great 2013
