Please help me support the educational and support services of the Cancer Support Community!
You're both lucky and unlucky if you don't know the Cancer Support Community. Lucky because it may mean you've never experienced cancer, which would put you in very small, fortunate percentage of the population. You've never known the fear, uncertainty, pain, and physical and emotional consequences this dreaded diagnosis can have on the patient and his or her family and friends. You haven't been subjected to the rigors of months of treatment, of watching people lose weight, hair, limbs, and organs, wondering if it will all be worth it in the end.
You're unlucky because you've also never experienced the warmth, caring and solace that is the Cancer Support Community of Central New Jersey (and many other locations). It's a beautiful, peaceful, nurturing place with fountains and butterflies, comfortable chairs and other sufferers, who are sometimes the only people who can understand what you're going through. They offer numerous educational programs free-of-charge on topics that don't get addressed through medical care -- nutrition, exercise, counseling, and emotional support for both patients and their loved ones, including children. It's an oasis in the daily struggle against cancer.
Nutrition, exercise, pain and suffering lead me to my role in all this -- running 13.1 miles in Miami in mid-November to raise money for the CSC to continue their services to thousands of sufferers every year! The CSC is providing me the education, coaching and community I need to do this; you can provide the motivation! Please sponsor me for whatever amount you can. I'm committed to raising $3000 but welcome your help to do even better than that. Please also share with me names of cancer sufferers you would like to recognize. I'll put them on my shirt and they'll cover the miles with me.
