We need your help to raise $5,000 from our communities before 2013!
Lucie's Place envisions a world in which Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer or Questioning (LGBTQ) young adults feel welcomed, loved, and respected at home. In response to the disproportionate and overwhelming population of homeless LGBTQ young adults in Central Arkansas, the mission of Lucie's Place is to establish a long-term shelter for homeless LGBTQ young adults, ages eighteen to twenty-five. Our goal is to provide a safe home in which these young adults can live their lives to the fullest while developing skills necessary for independent living.
Lucie's Place is currently in the process of raising the money to purchase a home for homeless LGBTQ young adults in Central Arkansas. Currently, LGBT young adults dealing with homelessness don't have many resources that are truly understanding and accepting of who they are. We are asking our community members (that is, you!) to help us reach our goal of raising $5,000 before the end of the year. We hope to be able to open our home by Oct. 1st, 2013. Lucie's Place Transitional Living Program will house 6-8 young adults and will develop all the skills necessary for their future independence. This type of program has never been done in Arkansas, but we know the need is there (we get several calls every week) and the response from our communities has been amazing.
