On February 24, 2013, I will be running in my first 1/2 marathon in honor of a great little girl named Alice!
Thank you for visiting the fundraising page for TEAM ALICE!
Alice is 6 1/2 years old and was born with Rett Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder which causes many physical challenges. Like most of Rett girls, Alice cannot talk, walk or use her hands and has trouble sitting up straight.
Despite her challenges, though, Alice is a happy girl. She loves going to school and spending time with her friends and family! Alice is learning to communicate by using a computer system that tracks her eye gaze since she can't talk or use her hands. She also uses a book that has pictures of things she wants to say which she can scan by looking at the pictures. Every movement is challenging for Alice because her body doesn't always follow the commands her brain makes. She overcomes the difficulties with determination and willingness! What a strong, patient and amazing little girl she is!!! Alice inspires so many people around her every day with her beautiful smile!
TEAM ALICE is asking you to help Alice and so many other Rett girls who are suffering every day. Currently, the only ways we can help these girls is by managing their symptoms with drugs and therapies. However, studies have shown that Rett Syndrome can be reversible! Help us find a cure for Alice by donating to the research fund.
Members of TEAM ALICE will be running the Disney Princess Half Marathon in honor of this fantastic young girl. Please support our efforts to raise research funds for Rett Syndrome. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
We thank you for your support - and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too! Thank you so much!!!!! GO TEAM ALICE!
