2. Let’s Stay Together Marriage Getaway
“There no longer seems to be much of a stigma attached to divorce; it is now seen as an unavoidable rite of passage,” George Barna, stated in a study he conducted between January 2007 and January 2008 in which he also directed. The study showed that one third of the thousands of people surveyed had been divorced at least once. Amazingly, there was no difference between the statistics for Christians and non-Christians.

Since 2001, CONLCM has led a collaborative marriage ministry for strengthening the relationships of married and engaged couples. One Saturday per month is deemed “Love Power Saturday”. Couples come to the church or some other venue for fellowship and instruction.

Each year, from thirty to seventy five couples leave the grind and pressures of life for a two or three night retreat at one Twin Cities’ top conference and retreat centers. The couples are treated to Biblically based training, seasoned with insights from leading professional counselors and researchers. All of this is placed within a fun-filled environment that encourages hope, openness, intimacy, celebration, rest, and renewal.

The economic downturn has hit families hard, and indications are that a number of potential participating couples may not be able to afford their share of the cost that we typically appropriate to them.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Let’s Stay Together Marriage Getaway costs CONLCM $600 per couple. CONLCM has typically sponsored thirty-three percent of the cost, leaving the balance for couples to pay. Given the current economic trends, we are seeking additional funding to help couples attend “Let’s Stay Together 2010”.
We would like to reduce each couple’s expense by raising additional funds to augment the subsidy CONLCM pays each year.
