We are pulling together the young leaders in our community to learn, to act and to lead on issues they care about.

When we listen, young people tell us amazing stories of what they need & the solutions they see. CWYC is working with youth advocacy groups to gather their wish list for themselves and their community (New Haven, CT), and develop themes for a Youth Summit.

So far, the responses have been powerful, heartbreaking and inspiring.

"I'm a singer, but I don't have any access to a recording studio to launch my work. We need places to record. Places to dance. A comedy club."

"For me: eternal happiness. For my neighborhood: eternal unity. For New Haven: eternal peace."

"Stop condemning pregnant girls & support them."

"No more death." (34 homicides in New Haven in 2011)

"More high school graduation. Mentors."

Young people are taking ACTION in New Haven, and adults need to understand their lives and ways we can effectively support and work with them. We can work together to build a strong, positive community.

I'm off now to meet with the youth leaders at Youth UnLeashed, hoping to learn what they'd like from a Youth Summit. Thanks SO MUCH for everyone's support & kind words.
