Donations to "Give to Little Cottonwood Canyon" will be split evenly between Wasatch Backcountry Rescue, the Cottonwood Canyons Foundation, and Wasatch Adaptive Sports. Gifts made during Love UT Give UT will be generously matched by the Alta Ski Area, up to $1,000.
The primary purpose of Wasatch Backcountry Rescue is the deployment and rapid response of professional search and rescue teams. WBR personnel are full-time avalanche professionals from member organizations who are familiar with the local terrain, snowpack, and current conditions in the Wasatch range. Our secondary purpose is to educate local backcountry users in safe techniques for mountain travel and the equipment, methods, and techniques used for self rescue in the case of any incident.
The mission of the Cottonwood Canyons Foundation is to work to continuously improve the environments of Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons through education and stewardship.
Wasatch Adaptive Sports is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is is to enhance the quality of life for children, adults and their families with special needs through therapeutic recreational, educational and social programs, while developing physical strengths and self-esteem.
*This fundraising project is being adminstered by Friends of Alta as part of our community-wide efforts for Love UT Give UT. Friends of Alta will not retain any portion of donations to "Give to Little Cottonwood Canyon."
