Lauren Cox is cycling across the USA to raise funds for Women's Health at MAHEC.
Lauren left April 21st to start her cross country journey by bike from North Carolina to California! By the end of June she made it to San Francisco. Support her in this 4,500 mile trek to raise funds for MAHEC's womens health in western North Carolina.
Lauren made it safely to Thailand with only one part missing from her bike.... With a replacement part found, she cycled north through the country, then across Laos and down the coast of Vietnam before returning to the US for a cross country charity ride for MAHEC! Asia was a warm up ride of over 2,000 miles!
As a 2013 Summer Intern at MAHEC, Lauren helped with the Women's and Children's Safety Initiative with our ObGyn team and was hooked on helping women in Western North Carolina.
MAHEC provides quality, compassionate healthcare and their Women's Team delivered 1,801 babies last year, which is 45% of the babies born at Mission Hospital.
MAHEC doctors, nurses and nurse midwives are a critical part of the healthcare safety net for women, particularly during pregnancy. MAHEC has the only maternal fetal medicine specialists in WNC for women with high risk pregnancies.
Funds raised will support Lauren's Ride expenses and the MAHEC Women's Health Fund, to protect the health and safety of mothers and their babies.
Lauren graduated from UNC Asheville and is preparing for medical school at UNC Chapel Hill in summer 2014. Go Lauren!!!
MAHEC is a 501(c)3 organization and gifts are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Sponsor Lauren by the mile - her ride in Asia is planned for 2,000 miles and her ride across the USA is planned for 4,500 miles.
