LATINO NETWORK
We pride ourselves on being a strong, viable, caring organization, concerned with the virtues of humanity, especially that of education.
“Daddy, why do you always go see Lanet?” asks a young boy of his father. The boy was worried that his dad was spending so much time with this Lanet lady. Mom sure would be mad about that! It was then that the boy learned about “La Net”… formally known as The Latino Network. He learned that his father was a part of an awesome group that does good things for human beings. His father told him about La Net giving scholarships to young Latinos helping them pursue their educational dreams; about a Leadership Institute for Latino young adults giving them guidance and direction about the world ahead of them; about the students that are sponsored to attend various educational conferences… his father had many many stories about the many many great things La Net is a part of.
The boy’s father also talked a lot about a man named Cesar E. Chavez. Not the boxer, but a man who protected farm workers, fought against discrimination, supported human rights… and he did all his fighting without any violence. What a hero! The boy’s father told him about yet another amazing thing La Net is doing… raising money for a monument of this great hero to be put up downtown. The boy had seen statues of Martin Luther King Jr. Gandhi, and others. They all make him want to do great things when he grows up. Soon he will have one more remarkable figure to inspire him in his life ventures. Though none so great as his own father.
The Latino Network (nicknamed LaNet) provides a forum to address community issues impacting Latinos and the greater community. We provide a vehicle for the sharing of information and resources. We pride ourselves on being a strong, viable, caring organization, concerned with the virtues of humanity, especially that of education. We are committed to providing improved opportunities for the youth of our community.
The words of the great humanitarian, Cesar E. Chavez, exemplify the La Net mission. “We cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community... Our ambitions must be broad enough to include the aspirations and needs of others, for their sakes and for our own.”
Each dollar donated helps La Net with one of its various causes… facilitating educational workshops, sending students to motivating conferences, sponsoring a childcare center in the heart of Riverside, supporting community health, and certainly not least, placing a permanent piece of history on the historic downtown Riverside mall. Your generosity continues a circle of life. You support us, so we may support our community. For that we are grateful.
