Lance Does The NYC Half Marathon
Lance Nation fundraising for KICK4LIFE INC
I'm running the NYC Half Marathon to support youth affected by HIV in Africa.
In the summer of 2012, I met Ben while earning my Divemaster in Utila, Honduras. Ben, a Brit, had a natural affinity for soccer or, as he puts it, football.
One day when watching England play in Euro Cup 2012, Ben starts showing off picture of him and some mates in Cologne for the 2006 World Cup. He shows some pics of the matches and tells a few stories; then he points out his buddy Pete.
Ben starts telling of how Pete and his brother Steve dribbled a soccerball 250miles across Malawi to raise £15k for an AIDS orphanage and then how, a year later in '06, Pete and Steve launch Kick4Life.
Kick4LIfe is a charity based at the Football for Hope Centre in Lesotho in southern Africa. The organization delivers a range of projects aimed at supporting vulnerable boys and girls. This includes health education and HIV prevention, voluntary HIV testing, life-skills development, mentoring, support towards education & employment, and the chance to enjoy sport.
Recently, I met Pete for coffee in NYC. He really is great guy with a smart mind and kind heart. Plus, he knows how to sell a pitch thus my attempt at the half marathon.
Our goal is 1,000 dollars per runner and here is where I need your help. I ask you give however much you feel comfortable with.
