A project of MONTEREY PARK LIBRARY FOUNDATION
Funds will benefit the Literacy for All of Monterey Park English and Citizenship Program in the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library.
To date, the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library has helped over 1,000 adults to become U.S. Citizens and close to 8,000 children and adults become better English speakers, readers and writers.
By learning English and gaining U.S. Citizenship status, many residents significantly improve their lives, job opportunities and participation in their communities.
The LAMP Literacy Program’s Citizenship and English classes are so vital to many people. With all volunteer instructors and tutors, LAMP is a highly cost effective program. However, to assure the literacy program’s proper function of services to the community, adequate funds for support for staff and administrative costs must be maintained.
The LAMP Literacy English and Citizenship Program is jointly funded by City and State monies that will be impacted by budget cuts. Donations from the public need to be raised to support this highly worthy program.
