Gifts to Lalmba will help some of the poorest people on earth. One dollar will buy medicine to save a child dying of pneumonia. Just $250 provides every single need for an orphan for one year!

Lamba Association provides life-saving assistance in some of the poorest places on earth. Lalmba operates health centers in Kenya and Ethiopia that provide medical care to over 60,000 people each year. Public Health programs are focused on preventing those illnesses in the future. We care for over 1500 orphans, most of whom lost their parents to AIDS. We operate the only library in our part of Kenya, and a microlending program that improves the community while helping individuals make a living.

Here's just one chid's story:

One of our orphans came to us with no name at all. She was about 18 months old at the time, with severe burn scars across the entire back of her head, where no hair will ever grow again. Our staff found her sitting next to her comatose young mother in the mud along the road by our Health Center. They took her mother into our hospital, but she never regained consciousness, dying within hours. The village’s leaders confirmed the sweet little toddler was an orphan, but no one knew her name. So we named her Meskerem, after the month in which she came to stay with us. This Ethiopian month name is a derivative of the word Meskel, which means Cross.

Meskerem was not in good health when she came to us, and if we hadn’t been there to care for her, she probably wouldn’t have survived. Meskerem was given a second chance at life. She is now a happy, heathy kindergartner who melts the hearts of all who meet her.

One of the basic principles at the core of Lalmba is this – children are priceless jewels, who must be guarded at all costs.

Sometimes Lalmba is the only one there to care for some of these precious ones. Your prayers and gifts enable us to do this important work. Thank you for joining us in being guardians of Meskerem and our other priceless jewels.
