As many of you know, every couple of years, I embark on a few adventure goals. Usually, I hope whatever event or activity I choose will be fun as well as an athletic challenge.

Over the past 7 years, I have hiked Pikes Peak (14,110 ft. elevation), run a marathon, raced in a triathlon, went sky diving, and became an official "Tough Mudder."

On September 23, I will attempt to do a Century bike ride... 100 miles over rolling Virginia countryside. Yes it will be beautiful, and I certainly hope it will be fun! But most importantly, I am doing it to support the cause I have spent the past 15 years of my professional life supporting... cancer!

As the Sr. Director of Communications and Patient Information at the American Society of Clinical Oncology, I work to help people with cancer every singe day. But now, I am going to work to help them even more directly by raising donations for my foundation: The Conquer Cancer Foundation.

I am hoping to raise $4,600... all of which will directly benefit cancer patients and their families or caregivers who seek cancer information and resources. Why the crazy number you ask? Well first, I am goal oriented and an optimist! And second, if raised, it would represent $100 for every year of my (getting older by the minute) life!

I have never reached out to most of you seeking donations, but I am asking you now to support my cause. I can tell you first-hand that donations will go directly to important patient programs and resources - and will make a tangible difference.

Every contribution helps no matter the amount! And, please SHARE my page with anyone you know who may have been touched by cancer and might like to support my cause and the Conquer Cancer Foundation.
