Support the treatment/care, feeding and ultimate re-homing of animals of San Antonio Pets Alive!

Hello Friends!!

As most of you know- I have a special love for animals. I'm sure at some point in time, I have asked you to foster, adopt or share on of san antonio's homeless dogs. I also love to run, and have completed several half marathons. This year, I have decided to put my miles to good use and joined the San Antonio Pets Alive Mutt Milers running team. All money donated will go directly to helping save the homeless dogs and cats of San Antonio. The statistics of homeless and euthanized daily dogs and cats is over whelming. I appreciate your support in my paws cause. Of course, if you do not have the cash, please consider volunteering or fostering with our group. :) I would LOVE to see EVERYONE on the sideline NOVEMBER 11th while I run 13.1 for my paws cause!!

Last year, over 30,000 pets were taken in by Animal Care Services, of these almost 19,000 pets were killed (63%) that’s an average of over 50 per day.Of these 19,000, 8,000 were puppies and kittens - nearly all were healthy/treatable and adoptable. 2011 projected intake is 40K animals! Since SAPA! has started in January 2012, we've been saving 24% of those animals set to be euthanized... there is HOPE!!!!

We are currently focused on helping the healthy and treatable pets who are at risk of being killed in a shelter, by rescuing the pets who are at the greatest risk and helping owners who are having problems so great that they need to surrender their pet(s) to a shelter.

In our rescue program, to not duplicate work of other agencies, we focus solely on the pets who have already been passed over by other groups and the shelters’ adoption programs and only take the healthy and treatable pets who are about to be killed and have no other options.
