Kids For K-9's

Wives Behind the Badge is sponsoring Shane Miller with his goal of raising funds to support K-9 officers and their dogs. Shane is the 10 year old son of Lori Miller, a member of WBTB and T.J. Miller, a Clearwater police officer. Shane heard about a small police department in West Texas who's K-9 was killed in the line of duty. This dog was performing a search via search warrant when he was killed.

Shane found out that the police chief at that department had to purchase the K-9s with his own personal money, so Shane has decided that he wants to help out. Shane came up with an idea to have a lemonade stand in order to raise the money to buy another dog. He has decided to name his fundraising program "“Kids for K-9’s™”. Each dog can cost anywhere from $5,000 to $7,500, but even with this challenge, he is determined to raise enough money to fund the replacement of this department's K-9 and help other departments as well. Shane said, "Let's take this one day at a time. We'll make it!"

Along with WBTB, Shane's parents are letting him make all the decisions regarding this program but are working together as a team to provide assistance to him as needed. Shane envisions that this program will be very successful and hopes that other kids of law enforcement officers will soon be hosting “Kids for K-9’s™” lemonade stands or other fundraising events all over the United States!

Shane's mom says, "My husband and I knew Shane was destined to do great and wonderful things since he was born at 1 pound 11 ounces. He keptpulling out his breathing tube and he was a fighter. He has mild cerebral palsy also, but that hasn't slowed him down. We are so blessed to have him and so very proud of him and what he is doing here."

Wives Behind the Badge developed this program that makes it easy for kids of all ages to raise money to support law enforcement officers and their K-9's with their own Kids for K-9’s™ Lemonade Stand or other fundraising event in their community.
