Cross Point Community Church in Nashville, TN will be sending one of two mission teams to Africa in 2013.
For several years, I have had the burning desire to serve on a mission team with Crosspoint. I have felt God continuing to work on my heart and allow me to offer my gifts to serve others. When the opportunity came to sponsor a young girl named Fenny through the Jacaranda Kids organization (www.jacarandakids.org), her letter mentioned hoping to meet her "sponsor". I knew this was my chance and how could I let her down. How could I let God down by stepping out in faith, abandoning my fear, and ultimately drawing me closer to Him?
Crosspoint's mission is “To continue to grow as a community of believers radically devoted to Christ, irrevocably committed to one another and relentlessly dedicated to reaching those outside God's family with the Gospel of Christ.” By honoring this mission statement, from 10-20April2013, I will be traveling to Nairobi, Kenya with other members of Crosspoint Community Church. Nairobi is the capital city of Kenya and the 12th largest city in Africa. Its population is over 33 million with 60-70% of its citizens living in slums.
During this trip, we partner with the ministry of Kean and Company (http://keanco.com/). This trip will include visiting homes in several slums (including Kiberia, the second largest slum in the world), ministering to the men and women who sew, leading programs for children in various schools in the slums, and leading at their church services.
The cost of this missions trip is $3200 per team member, which covers airfare, food, lodging and ministry materials. Each team member is responsible for raising 100% of their financial support. The deadline for securing this financial support is March 10th with 50% of my funds due January 10th (I know....right around the corner).
Most importantly myself and the team will need prayer support. The prayer needs are: Prepartion of our team, united in spirit and purpose; Safety as we travel and work; Good health for all those involved on the mission;
The Lord will prepare the hearts of those with whom we will share His Word; Openess to what God wants to teach me through this mission.
I am very excited about this opportunity and ministry. Would you please consider sharing this opportunity with me as the Lord leads you to pray and/or give? Financial support is really essential to my going on the mission, but of greater importance is your commitment to pray.
If you would like to make a tax-deductible contribution towards the trip, please make checks/money orders payable to Crosspoint Church, 4301 Charlotte Avenue, Nashville, TN 37209 attn: Laurie Stevens. Please also include my name and trip name (Kelly Parish - Africa) in the memo line. You can also make donations directly on this link.
Where God guides, he provides. As I embark upon this mission, I would like to thank you in advance for your prayers and support.
